ELĪNA GEDIŅA is one of Latvia’s most prominent movement artists and choreographers. She studied contemporary dance choreography at the Latvian Academy of Culture under Professor Olga Žitluhina. After graduating, she worked as an independent movement artist, creating productions in contemporary dance, drama and opera.
She has collaborated with director Viesturs Kairišs, artists Krista and Reinis Dzudzilo, Elmārs Seņkovs, Reinis Suhanovs and others. Together with her partner Rūdolfs Gediņš, she created the dance productions Ļoti labas minūtes (Very Good Minutes, 2022) at Dailes Theatre and Es eju ārā dārzā (I Am Going Out into the Garden, 2022) at Kvadrifrons.
At the Latvian National Opera, she has worked as movement director on the productions of Le Villi (2015), Der fliegende Holländer (2018) and Dialogues des Carmélites (2019).
She has twice received the Spēlmaņu nakts Latvian Theatre Award in the category Movement Artist of the Year, has been nominated several times for the Latvian Dance Award in various categories, and has also received the Youth Jury Award.
