Misha Kiria

Baritone

Georgian baritone MISHA KIRIA is a graduate of the Accademia Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the Tbilisi State Conservatoire, and performs on many of the world’s leading opera stages.

He gained international recognition with the title role in Verdi’s Falstaff, in which he made his debut at the Verdi Opera Festival at the Teatro Regio di Parma in 2017. Kiria is particularly sought after in the Italian repertoire, with notable roles including Dr. Bartolo in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, Don Magnifico in La Cenerentola, Don Geronio in Il turco in Italia, and Dulcamara in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore.

He has appeared at many of Europe’s major opera houses, including the Teatro alla Scala in Milan (Blansac in La scala di seta), Teatro Real in Madrid (Falstaff and Don Geronio), Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia (Lord Sidney in Il viaggio a Reims, Alfio in Cavalleria rusticana, and Tonio in Pagliacci), and the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona (Cavaliere di Belfiore in Un giorno di regno). He is a regular guest at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where his roles have included Fra Melitone in Verdi’s La forza del destino, Lord Sidney, and Don Alfonso in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, as well as at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, where he has appeared in Il signor Bruschino, Il turco in Italia, and Il barbiere di Siviglia.

Among the highlights of his career are his debut at the Salzburg Festival in a new production of Il trittico, and his appearance at the Barbican Hall in London with Opera Rara, where he performed the title role (Zarete) in Donizetti’s Il Paria. He has also made his debut at the Vienna State Opera as Dulcamara, and at the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto in the title role of Donizetti’s Don Pasquale. Other notable engagements include Michonnet in Adriana Lecouvreur at the Opéra National de Lyon and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, as well as Michele and Gianni Schicchi in Il trittico at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Misha Kiria is a versatile and charismatic artist whose repertoire spans both comic and dramatic baritone roles, distinguished by musical precision, strong stage presence, and vivid characterisation.

In the 2026/2027 season, Misha Kiria performs the roles of Dr. Bartolo at the Vienna State Opera and Sergeant Sulpice in Donizetti’s La fille du régiment. At the Bavarian State Opera, he appears as Don Magnifico and Dr. Bartolo. Misha Kiria will make his debut at the Latvian National Opera, performing the role of Dulcamara in L’elisir d’amore.
