The Latvian soprano KATRĪNA PAULA FELSBERGA studied at the Riga Cathedral choir school where she obtained a diploma in classical singing and choir conducting and is currently continuing her studies at the University of Arts Berlin. She made her operatic debut at the Latvian National Opera in the 2021/22 season with the role of Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni. She returns to the Latvian National Opera with a role debut as Giannetta in Donizetti's L'elisir d'Amore in spring 2024. Katrīna has performed with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, chamber orchestra Sinfonietta Riga and Liepaja Symphony Orchestra.
As an alumna of the Lied Academy of the Heidelberger Frühling festival Katrīna has given recitals at the Pierre Boulez Saal Berlin and the Heidelberger Frühling Liedfestival, where she participated in an experimental Lied.LAB on Western and Eastern cultures. She has performed in such festivals as Kissinger Sommer and contemporary music festival Arēna.
Katrīna has premiered multiple works by contemporary composers, such as Andris Dzenītis, Artūrs Maskats, Jēkabs Jančevskis and many more. In autumn of 2023 she participated in the 50th anniversary concert of the French contemporary ensemble L'Itinéraire in the IRCAM institute in Paris, where she premiered a work by Oscar Bianchi.
Felsberga is a laureate of multiple singing competitions. In addition to 1st place and special prize for Best Soprano in the 5th International Giulio Perotti Singing Competition (2017) and 1st place in the Alfrēds’s Kalniņš Young Vocalist Competition (2019) she was a finalist in the 49th Bundeswettbewerb Gesang Berlin (2020). She has also been a participant of the academy of the LIEDBasel festival, the Gstaad Menuhin Festival Vocal Academy and the Lotte Lehmann Akademie for young opera singers.
