Matteo Ivan Rašić began his musical training at the age of six as a member of the Wiltener Boys’ Choir, where he received his first vocal instruction. As a boy soprano, he appeared as a soloist in numerous concerts and on the stage of the Tyrolean State Theatre in Innsbruck, including performances in The Cunning Little Vixen. With the Wiltener Boys’ Choir, he also sang songs and arias from Der Vogelhändler and La traviata on concert tours in China.
The tenor studied singing at the Tyrolean State Conservatory in cooperation with the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, as well as completed degrees in instrumental and vocal pedagogy under Johannes Stecher at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. He further refined his artistry in masterclasses with Brigitte Fassbaender, Karlheinz Hanser, Robert Holl, Stephan Matthias Lademann, and Thomas Hampson. As a scholarship holder of the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce, he also continued his studies at the Eva Lind Music Academy with Vesselina Kasarova and Linda Watson.
In 2022, under the patronage of Jakub Józef Orliński, Matteo Ivan Rašić won the Opera for Peace Prize at the Stanisław Moniuszko Competition, as well as the Tyrolean Classical Singer Prize. In 2024, he was awarded First Prize at the Otto Edelmann International Singing Competition Vienna, along with the Audience Prize of the ottoedelmannsociety. In 2025, he received the Austrian Music Theatre Award as Best Young Artist for the role of Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore at Oper Burg Gars.
His engagements have included appearances at the Operettensommer Kufstein, the Croatian Opera Academy (followed by participation in the International Opera Workshop Waiblingen), and the role of Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore) at Opera Burg Gars in 2024. His oratorio repertoire features Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and St Matthew Passion, Handel’s Messiah, Mendelssohn’s Psalm 95, as well as Haydn’s The Seasons and The Creation. He is a frequent soloist in orchestral masses and festive concerts, including Christmas, New Year’s, and gala performances in Bayreuth, Tyrol, and at the Christmas concert Božić u Ciboni in Croatia.
Since the 2023/2024 season, Matteo Ivan Rašić has been a member of the ensemble of the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich, where he made his debut in 2022 as Fritz in La Grande-Duchesse de Gérolstein. His roles there include Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Adam (Der Vogelhändler), Marius (Les Misérables), and Brian in Monty Python’s Not the Messiah.
