Tenor DUMITRU MÎȚU solidified his artistic excellence in 2022 by winning one of the most significant international singing competitions—the Neue Stimmen International Competition in Germany. This achievement propelled him onto the international stage, capturing the attention of both audiences and critics alike. In 2023, Dumitru Mîțu was declared the “phenomenon of the competition” at the SWR Junge Opernstars TV competition, where he was awarded the Grand Prize “Emmerich Smola”— a highly prestigious distinction that highlights his extraordinary talent.
As a frequent guest on some of the world’s most renowned stages, the tenor has collaborated with opera houses in Germany, the United States, France, Romania, Estonia, Norway, and many others, captivating audiences with his expressive voice and remarkable performances. Artist’s repertoire includes such roles as Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus, Vodemon in Iolanda, Lensky in Eugene Onegin, Alfredo in La Traviata, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, and Don José in Carmen, among others. Since 2024, Dumitru Mîțu has joined the National Opera of Bucharest as a soloist.
Dumitru Mîțu obtained bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the Academy for Music, Theatre and Fine Arts of Chisinau.
