Daniils Pogoriless

Baritone

Baritone DANIILS POGORILESS made his debut on the stage of the Latvian National Opera in 2023. His repertoire at the LNO includes Lotario in Flavio, re de’ Longobardi by Georg Friedrich Händel, Belcore in L’elisir d’amore by Gaetano Donizetti, and Masetto in Don Giovanni by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

His most recent achievements include First Prize at the Havets Röst Competition 2025 in Åland, Finland. He was also a finalist in the 5th Jāzeps Vītols International Vocal Competition in Riga (2025). In 2024, Daniils was a finalist in the Ottavio Ziino Singing Competition, and received the Gabriele Forst Prize for Best Baritone Voice. In 2021, he became a laureate of the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and LMT Annual Award for Young Musicians, and in 2022, he participated in the prestigious Operalia Young Singers Competition.

As part of the Heidelberger Schlossfestspiele 2025, Daniils performed in Georges Bizet’s Carmen, interpreting the roles of Moralès and Dancaïre.

Daniils has developed his vocal artistry within the Mascarade Emerging Artists programme in Florence, where he has appeared on the stages of the Royal Theatre of Parma, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, and Teatro della Pergola in Florence.

Daniils holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music (class of Assoc. Prof. Krišjānis Norvelis), where he performed the roles of Silvio in Pagliacci and Malatesta in Don Pasquale.
