TIMOFEJ ANDRIJASHENKO, the Principal of La Scala Ballet, was trained at the Riga Choreography School. In 2009, during the International Dance Competition Città di Spoletto, he won a full scholarship to the Russian Ballet College in Genoa, under the direction of Irina Kashkova. In March 2014, he joined the corps de ballet of the Opera Theatre in Rome, under the direction of Micha von Hoecke. In 2014, he joined the corps de ballet of La Scala Theatre Ballet, promoted to principal in February 2018. His roles with the Company include Albrecht (Giselle), Romeo (Romeo and Juliet), Basilio (Don Quixote), Des Grieux (Manon), Armand Duval (The Lady of Camellias), Cavalier (Balanchine’s The Nutcracker), Lensky and Onegin (Onegin), Prince Désiré (The Sleeping Beauty), Siegfried (Swan Lake), Conrad (Le Corsaire), Aminta (Sylvia) and the1st principal in Symphony in C, Balanchine’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Petite Mort, Woolf Works, AfteRite and Lore by Wayne McGregor. In the 2018/19 Season, Latvian dancer Timofej Andrijashenko made his Royal Opera House Ballet debut dancing Romeo in Keneth MacMillan’s Romeo and Juliet as a Guest Artist. He has received several awards including, in 2010, the Positano Premia La Danza Leonide Massine and the Giffoni Dance Award, the Rome in Dance 2011. He has participated in several international competitions, winning the Grand Prix Dance Competition and MAB award in 2011. In 2013, he won the Gold Medal at the XII Moscow International Ballet Competition. He received the 2016 Danza&Danza Award as Performer of the Year.
