Stage Design Assistant

MANUEL LA CASTA graduated with honors in architecture in Valencia and Vienna and then worked at the interface between installation and architecture in Berlin, Geneva and Paris. In the process, he realized numerous designs for exhibitions, festivals, fashion shows and buildings. He also worked at the Schaubühne Berlin, the Münchner Kammerspiele and the Deutsches Theater Berlin. In the opera field he gained experience at the Salzburger Festspielen, the Bolshoi in Moscow, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Opernhaus Zürich and Teatro di San Carlo in Naples among others.

He has designed sets for the world premiere of Hochdeutschland (2019) at the Münchner Kammerspiele and the Ruhrfestspiele and the world premiere of Gaia googelt nicht (2021) at the Deutsches Theater Berlin. His recent works include the set design of Zazà at the Bielefeld Theater, directed by Nadja Loschky, as well as the co-design of the sets for Nathan der Weise at the Salzburger Festspiele in collaboration with Ulrich Rasche.
