In remembrance of the victims of the Communist genocide, on June 14, Giuseppe Verdi's Requiem will resounded at the Latvian National Opera. Composed in 1873, it was dedicated to the memory of the Italian writer Alessandro Manzoni, whom Verdi admired. The work reflects man’s spiritual drama in the face of God’s almighty presence.
Performers: soloists Jūlija Vasiļjeva, Elmina Hasan, Matteo Lippi un Egils Siliņš, The State Choir Latvija, LNO chorus and orchestra. Music Director and Conductor – Mārtiņš Ozoliņš.
