The music of Zigmars Liepiņš is familiar to admirers of different genres: along with well-known pop music songs and theatre scores, melodic operas and rising vocal-symphonic pieces feature prominently in his oeuvre and for many his rock opera Lacplesis is synonimous with the National Awakening era.
The first part of the concert will contain excerpts from his opera Notre-Dame de Paris. Libretto by Kaspars Dimiters. The second part of the concert will feature Zigmars Liepiņš’ Transcendental Oratorio, which was composed after the 2011 earthquake in Japan. The oratorio’s libretto was written by Andra Manfelde.
