Born in Baku, Azerbaijan, mezzosoprano ELMINA HASAN has been rising to the international stage rapidly.
Her recent performances include Marchesa Melibea in Il Viaggio a Reims at Deutsche Oper Berlin under Michele Spotti and Dorabella in Così fan Tutte at the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.
Prior to her professional operatic debut in 2019 as Polina in The Queen of Spades, she performed in various choral and orchestral works at the Azerbaijan State Academic Philharmonic Hall with the Azerbaijan State Chamber Orchestra and Azerbaijan State Choir. Last season, she debuted the role of Fenena in Aida by Giuseppe Verdi at the Georgian National Opera Theater. In 2022, she achieved remarkable success in several international vocal competitions, winning the First Prize in the first annual Black Sea International Opera Competition. Elmina is also winner of the Grand Prix in the Bulbul International Vocal Competition, and received the second prize in the Premiere Opera Foundation’s International Vocal Competition. In 2023 Elmina won the First Prize at the Opera Crown Competition in Tbilisi.
Elmina holds a bachelor’s degree from the Uzeir Hacibeyli Baku Academy of Music in Azerbaijan and a master’s degree from the Tbilisi State Conservatoire. In 2023, Elmina was part of the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
