Alessandra Solimene

Video

Alessandra Solimene graduated in set design from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. Her interest in theatre initially developed from set design, and then it broadened also to other fields. From 2012 she assisted the set designer Massimo Troncanetti in several works, among them two productions of the Comedie Française: Un chapeau de paille d’Italie (directed by Giorgio Barberio Corsetti) and Othello (dir. Leonie Simaga). She also collaborated in the production The Duellists, (dir. Roberto Aldorasi), and to the opera Macbeth (dir. Olivier Fredj), a production of La Monnaie/De Munt. In 2013 she began approaching the language of video and she started to collaborate with director Giorgio Barberio Corsetti, for whom she creates, together with Igor Renzetti and Lorenzo Bruno, the video to his productions I was looking at the ceiling and then I saw the sky, at the Théâtre du Chatelet in Paris; Gospodin, for the Roma Europa Festival; The Prince of Homburg, the opening show at Festival d’Avignon in 2014; Cinderella, at Teatro Massimo in Palermo and Fra Diavolo at the Opera Theatre in Rome. Since 2014 she also become interested in puppetry.
