Mathieu Pordoy

Pianist

French collaborative pianist and recitalist MATHIEU PORDOY is recognized as one of the most promising opera coaches of his generation. He has worked with major opera houses, including the Vienna State Opera, Paris Opera, Opernhaus Zürich, and the Rossini Opera Festival. He has served on the faculties of Canadian Vocal Arts Institute in Montreal, International Vocal Arts Institute in Israel, and else.

Pordoy performs widely with Michael Spyres, appearing in major venues across Europe, Canada, and the United States, and with Marina Rebeka, with whom he recorded the album Voyages. Recent highlights include his debut at the Salzburg Festival with Benjamin Bernheim, followed by performances in Paris and Vienna.

In 2019, Pordoy made a double debut at Carnegie Hall—in Berlioz’s Lélio with Sir John Eliot Gardiner and in recital with Sabine Devieilhe, praised by The New York Times as “a superb partner.” Their collaboration has since led to performances in Europe’s leading concert halls and a recording for Erato.

A specialist in French opera, Pordoy is regularly engaged by the Opéra-Comique, Opéra de Monte-Carlo, La Monnaie, and Théâtre du Capitole. Since 2008, he has been a frequent collaborator at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. As a vocal coach and accompanist, he has served on the music staffs of the opera houses and festivals in France, Germane, Chile, and others. He has worked closely with François-Xavier Roth on more than a dozen productions.

Mr. Pordoy has collaborated with such conductors as Fabio Luisi, Sir John Elliot Gardiner, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Gianandrea Noseda, Louis Langrée, Daniele Gatti, Michele Mariotti, Mikko Franck, and Alain Altinoglu.

Pordoy graduated with honors from the Paris Conservatoire, where he later taught.
