Udo Haberland

UDO HABERLAND was working as a photographer in Berlin. In 1988 he started to work for film and television productions and for the State Theatre in Stuttgart. As freelance light designer and lighting master he created commissioned works for ballet, dance, opera and spectacle in Europe, in the USA and in Australia. For several years he was engaged by top-class festivals, such as the Salzburger Festspiele, the Wiener Festwochen and the Ludwigsburger Festspiele. He created the light design for events by brands like Hugo BOSS, Formula 1 and Strenesse, as well as film and TV-commercials. Udo Haberland has developed the light design for all stage productions by Marco Goecke at Stuttgart Ballet, including the successful Nusskracker (2006) and Orlando (2010). Their collaboration also extended to the works Marco Goecke created at other houses, such as Nijinski (2016) with Gauthier Dance at the Theaterhaus Stuttgart, The Lover at the Staatstheater Hannover and Dogs Sleep (2019) with the Paris Opera Ballet. Further he created the lighting design for works of Marco Goecke at Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, for Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, Nederlands Dans Theater I und II, Staatsballett Berlin as well as for the Norwegian National Ballet in Oslo, Niedersächsischen Staatstheater Hannover, Ballett der Wiener Staatsoper and Staatstheater München. He co-operated with the choreographer Örjan Andersson, Bridget Breiner, Jérôme Delbey, Giovanni Di Palma and Cayetano Soto.
