In 1998, OLENA ANTOKHINA graduated from the Theatre and Art Academy named after M. B. Grekov in Odessa, where she studied Theatrical Lighting Art. During the 1998/99 season, Antokhina worked as the lighting designer at the Lviv Regional Academic Music and Drama Theatre named after Yuriy Drohobych. In 2002, she joined the Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theatre in Kyiv, where she worked her way up from an engineer to a lighting designer.
Since 2006, she has been working as the lighting designer at the Kyiv Modern-Ballet where she developed the light design for a number of productions, including Сarmen. TV, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Bolero, Rain, Romeo and Juliet, Underground, Two on the Seesaw, Quartet-a-tête, Women in D-Moll, The Long Christmas Dinner, Giselle, Up the River, Tomorrow, Sleeping Beauty, Viy, The Little Prince, Nine Dates and The Queen of Spades. Simultaneously, she worked on projects for the modern dance company The Ukrainian Dance Theatre and Baza.art people. During the 2013/14 season, she participated in the Backstage project and attended light design classes, led by Michael Mannion. She has also worked as a lighting designer for the National Theatre Prague, Belgrade National Theatre and Plovdiv Opera.
