Andreas Frank

Lighting Designer

Lighting designer ANDREAS FRANK began his career in 1986 as a lighting technician at the Freie Volksbühne in Berlin under the direction of Hans Neuenfels. Since 1994 he has worked regularly for the Wagner Festival in Bayreuth. During this time, he was also active worldwide, including at the Teatro Pedregal in Mexico City, the San Francisco Opera, the Musiktheater Amsterdam and the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg. In cooperation with Rick Belzer he was responsible for the exhibition lighting design of international exhibitions such as: Titanic, The Human Body, Dinosaur.

From 2009 to 2011 he directed the lighting department at the Cologne Opera (Artistic Director: Uwe Eric Laufenberg) and took on the same position at the Bayreuth Festival in 2011.

Andreas Frank has been director of lighting department at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden since 2013. There he designed the light for a large number of productions, worked with directors such as Uwe Eric Laufenberg, Vasily Barkhatov, Achim Freyer, Nicolas Brieger, Ingo Kerkhof, Philipp Krenn, and others.
