Linda Leimane focuses on gestures and the physicality of sound. The composer’s body of work includes pieces for orchestras, large ensembles, chamber ensembles, and for soloists in electroacoustic projects. She experiments with electronic music and collaborates with artists working with other media. She studied composition and electronic music at the J.Vītols Latvian Music Academy and has furthered her education in composition and new music technologies at the Conservatoire national supérieur musique et danse in Lyon. She has also been composer Michele Tadini’s assistant at the sound research centre Agon in Milan and Paris. Leimane’s music has been performed in Latvia, Estonia, France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, the Netherlands and Australia.
