Lorenzo Passerini

Conductor

LORENZO PASSERINI is an Italian conductor and trombonist. He graduated with honors in trombone from the Como Conservatoire in 2009 and obtained a master’s degree with honors from the Aosta Conservatoire in 2014. As a trombonist, he toured worldwide performing under conductors such as John Axelrod, Andrey Boreyko, Fabio Luisi, and Riccardo Muti.

In 2010, Passerini began his conducting studies with Maestro Ennio Nicotra, later refining his skills with renowned conductors. His career as a conductor started in 2011 with the Orchestra Antonio Vivaldi, which he co-founded and continues to lead as artistic director.

Since 2016, he has gained international recognition, debuting with various Italian ensembles and soon after conducting the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, Arena di Verona, Orchestra Regionale Toscana, as well as orchestras in Romania, Austria, Mexico, and South Korea.

Since 2015, he has collaborated closely with Nicola Luisotti, assisting and conducting productions in leading opera houses such as the Royal Opera House London, Teatro Real Madrid, and La Scala Milan. His repertoire spans opera and symphonic works, including Puccini, Verdi, Rossini, Orff, and Prokofiev.

In recent years, Passerini has appeared at Teatro Regio di Torino, Sydney Opera House, National Opera Warsaw, Frankfurt Opera, Savonlinna Opera Festival, and others, working with outstanding soloists such as Nadine Sierra, Sumi Jo, and Pretty Yende.

During the 2022/23 season, he conducted Norma in Palermo, Rigoletto in Naples, Lucia di Lammermoor in Las Palmas, and Carmina Burana in Warsaw, as well as making a notable debut at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées with La Bohème.

In 2024, Passerini opened the year with performances at the Hamburg State Opera, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, and Teatro San Carlo, followed by debuts at the Canadian Opera Company and Cincinnati Opera Festival, alongside returns to Naples and Paris.

From September 2024, Lorenzo Passerini serves as Chief Conductor of the Jyväskylä Sinfonia in Finland.
