“[This opera] is a variety of different genres and feelings: it is funny, it is sad, it is philosofical and sarcastic sometimes, it’s sharp, witty, sentimental. All of that, and it’s built so cleverly together. It is written under a title melodramma giocoso, which would mean it’s a funny melodrama – something that doesn’t really go together but the title is very precise. It has a certain sadness and a great part of humour,” stage director Sven-Eric Bechtolf explains about the opera “L’elisir d’amore” by Gaetano Donizetti.

Sven-Eric Bechtolf creates the new production of "L'elisir d'amore" in collaboration with Music Director and Conductor Mārtiņš Ozoliņš, Set and Costume Designer Julian Crouch, Set Designer’s Assistant Anna Maddalena Cingi, and Lighting Designer Māris Sējāns.

The premiere of "L'elisir d'amore" is on May 23, 2024! Following performances are scheduled for May 24 and 25, as well as June 8 and 16.
