This spring, the Latvian National Opera and Ballet invites audiences to two special events: a concert performance of Gaetano Donizetti’s opera Lucia di Lammermoor on 13 March and a solo concert by the extraordinary male soprano Maayan Licht on 13 April.
Tickets for both events will be available to priority booking customers from 27 October, with general sales opening at 11.00 on 28 October.
A concert performance of Gaetano Donizetti’s masterpiece Lucia di Lammermoor, featuring an outstanding cast of international opera stars, will take place at the Latvian National Opera on 13 March. Making her debut in Latvia will be the internationally acclaimed British-born Australian soprano Jessica Pratt – one of today's most dazzling interpreters of bel canto – in the title role. Joining her on stage will be the virtuoso South African tenor Levy Sekgapane, Canadian-American bass John Relyea, renowned for his powerful voice and commanding stage presence, and the expressive Romanian baritone Bogdan Baciu. Soloists and the Chorus of the Latvian National Opera will also take part in the performance.
In the struggle for wealth and power, the fragile Lucia’s dreams of happiness and love crumble to dust... The hypnotic mad scene of the title heroine is one of the brightest jewels of opera music, while Lucia di Lammermoor is Gaetano Donizetti’s most famous opera. The opera’s plot is based on Walter Scott’s popular novel The Bride of Lammermoor, a story of bitter hatred between two Scottish families at the end of the 17th century.
On 13 April, the Great Hall of the Latvian National Opera will welcome Maayan Licht, one of the brightest and most distinctive operatic voices of the new generation. His exceptionally rare sopranist voice astonishes with its dazzling upper register, virtuoso coloratura and refined musicality, allowing him to reveal the riches of the Baroque repertoire in full splendour.
Internationally acclaimed, he has already appeared on major European stages, including the Dutch National Opera, Theater an der Wien, the Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival and Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, among others. He has won the top prize at the Vienna International Music Competition, as well as the 2025 Oper! Award in the Best Newcomer category. His vocal mastery, stage charisma and bold artistic personality place Maayan Licht among the most exciting young talents on today’s opera scene.
At the Latvian National Opera, Maayan Licht will perform alongside the chamber orchestra Davinspiro Camerata, founded by the talented violinist Daniils Bulajevs. Bringing together gifted young musicians, the ensemble continues to forge its distinctive musical identity through a constant pursuit of new artistic challenges.
Tickets are available at the LNOB Box Office, as well as online.
