Ticket Sales for performances and concerts in the first half of the 2026/2027 season

Ticket sales for performances and concerts of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet in the first half of the 2026/2027 season will open to the priority group on 8 April at 11:00, while remaining tickets will be available to the general public from 9 April at 11:00.

The first half of the 2026/2027 season at the Latvian National Opera and Ballet will offer a rich and diverse programme, featuring repertoire performances alongside two new productions, guest performances, and outstanding concerts.

At the end of summer, the Vanemuine Theatre from Tartu will visit the Latvian National Opera. On 28 August, audiences will experience A Small Prayer. A Tribute to Arvo Pärt by Czech choreographer Petr Zuska – a poetic and spiritually resonant performance exploring life, love, faith, and humanity, inspired by the music of Arvo Pärt.
On 29 August, audiences can enjoy George Frideric Handel’s opera Julius Caesar – a richly baroque and emotionally compelling story of power, intrigue, and unexpected love between Cleopatra and Caesar. The production is directed by Elmo Nüganen, with set design by Kristjan Suits and costumes by Kristīne Pasternaka. Both productions will be conducted by Vanemuine Theatre’s Music Director, Risto Joost.

The annual Season Opening Gala Concert will take place on 3 September. The programme will be presented in two parts: the first dedicated to ballet and the second to opera, offering both a preview of the upcoming season and a reflection on the artistic highlights of the previous one.

On 18 September, the world-renowned South African soprano Pretty Yende – whose remarkable international career began at our theatre –  will perform a solo concert together with the Orchestra of the Latvian National Opera under the baton of conductor Pablo Mielgo.

Two new productions are scheduled for the first half of the season. On 8 October, the premiere of Richard Strauss’s opera Der Rosenkavalier, directed by Viesturs Kairišs, will take place. Combining comic situations and the lightness of the waltz with emotional poignancy, allowing the audience to savour an exquisite story of love and the inevitable passage of time, imbued with irony and melancholy, this work has been staged at the Latvian National Opera only once before, in 1930. The new production features set and costume design by internationally acclaimed designer Germans Ermičs, marking his debut at the Latvian National Opera and Ballet, with lighting design by Alex Brok Light Design.

On 27 November, the ballet A Midsummer Night’s Dream will premiere. Created by legendary choreographer John Neumeier for the Hamburg Ballet in 1977 and inspired by William Shakespeare’s comedy, the production blends humour with dreamlike poetry, while its musical dramaturgy guides the audience through three distinct stylistic worlds. The set and costumes are designed by Jürgen Rose. This will be the first production by John Neumeier in our ballet repertoire.

Guest soloists will bring additional brilliance to the repertoire performances in the first half of the season. A distinguished cast will perform in Richard Strauss’s opera Salome on 5 September: the title role will be sung by the internationally acclaimed Lithuanian soprano Vida Miknevičiūtė, Herodias by renowned Latvian mezzo-soprano Zanda Švēde, and Herodes by the outstanding German tenor Marco Jentzsch.
In Giacomo Puccini’s opera Turandot on 11 September, the leading roles will be performed by leading Latvian opera singers: Liene Kinča (Turandot), Inga Kalna (Liù), and Aleksandrs Antoņenko (Calaf).
In Georges Bizet’s Carmen on 9 September, the title role will be sung by Zanda Švēde, while on 17 December the role will be performed by Ramona Zaharia. Further information on performances featuring guest artists will be announced in due course.

Ticket sales for performances of The Nutcracker, the New Year’s Gala Concert, the Concert for Babies 2, and events in other halls will be announced separately.
