Special cast for Giuseppe Verdi's opera "Aida" on February 9, 2024

On Friday, February 9th, a special cast will participate in the performance of Giuseppe Verdi's opera Aida. The role of Amneris will be interpreted by the internationally acclaimed Lithuanian soprano Justina Gringytė, while the role of Radamess will be portrayed by Uruguayan tenor Gaston Rivero. Soprano Laura Kirchgässner from Germany will embody the role of the High Priestess. Meanwhile, bass Edgars Ošleja will sing the role of Ramfis for the first time.

Lithuanian mezzo-soprano JUSTINA GRINGYTĖ was awarded as the Young Singer of the Year at the International Opera Awards. Graduate of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Her operatic highlights include Maddalena in Rigoletto, Amneris in Aida, Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly, Dalila in Samson et Dalila, Romeo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Tigrana in Edgar, title role in Carmen, Preziosilla in La Forza del Destino, Fenena in Nabucco and Marguerite in La damnation de Faust, among other. She has performed at the Opéra national de Paris, Royal Opera House, Teatro Real in Madrid, English National Opera, Israeli Opera, Lithuanian National Opera, Korean National Opera, Gran Teatre del Liceu and Scottish Opera, among other. She has recorded several albums for Deutsche Grammaphon and Delphian.

GASTON RIVERO’s repertoire includes Manrico in Il Trovatore, the title role in Don Carlo, Gabriele Adorno in Simon Boccanegra, Macduff in Macbeth, Radames in Aida, Calaf in Turandot, Ismaele in Nabucco, Manrico in Il Trovatore, Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca, Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana, Don Jose in Carmen, Rodolfo in La Bohème, Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut, the title role in Otello, Rodolfo in Luisa Miller, the title role in Faust and Romeo et Juliette, among others. He performs at Staatsoper Berlin, Opéra National de Paris Bastille, Arena di Verona, Théâtre Royal de La Monnaie, The Royal Opera House Muscat, Opera de Monte Carlo, Oper Leipzig, Deutsche Oper Berlin, New National Theater Tokyo, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Israeli Opera Tel Aviv, Teatro Verdi di Trieste, Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania and elsewhere. Gaston Rivero's professional debut came in 2003 with the Broadway production of Puccini’s La Bohème, in New York City, by Australian film director and producer Baz Luhrman.

LAURA KIRCHGÄSSNER has studied vocal art with Prof. Friedemann Röhlig at the University of Music Karlsruhe, Germany; later on, attending masterclasses with Prof. Regina Werner, Margreet Honig, KS Dorothea Röschmann and Prof. Edda Moser. In 2018, she was honoured with the Bayreuth scholarship from the Richard Wagner Association, as well as won the prize of the international competition at the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg. Singer performs mostly in Germany, collaborating with several renowned orchestras. During the summer of 2023 she sang with the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg at the concerts of the Elbland Festival Wittenberge. She was invited to perform at the Royal Wedding of Princess Maria Teresita of Saxony at the Dresden Cathedral.

The performance will be conducted by maestro Mārtiņš Ozoliņš. In the title role, you will be able to enjoy Tatiana Trenogina's performance, with Jānis Apeinis as Amonasro, Krišjānis Norvelis as Pharaoh, and Artjoms Safronovs as the Messenger.
