Mārtiņš Ozoliņš has been awarded the Order of the Three Stars

Warmest congratulations to Mārtiņš Ozoliņš, the principal conductor of the Latvian National Opera, on being awarded the Order of the Three Stars!

The formal presentation ceremony for the highest national award is scheduled for the 106th anniversary of the Proclamation of the Independence of the Republic of Latvia, on November 18, 2024, at 3:30 PM at Riga Castle. The ceremony will be broadcast live on Latvian Television Channel 1.

Mārtiņš Ozoliņš is the Chief Conductor of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet (LNO) and an Associate Professor at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music. He is the laureate of the prestigious IV International Jorma Panula Conducting Competition. He made his debut at the LNO in 2003, conducting Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Nabucco. Ozoliņš has been the musical lead and conductor of numerous ballet and opera performances, as well as gala concerts and choral symphonies. The conductor has collaborated with a number of orchestras across the globe, including the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi di Trieste, Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania Opera Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, Georgian State Opera Orchestra and the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. He has performed and conducted guest performances in Moscow, Tampere, Leipzig, Saint Petersburg, Mexico, Trieste, Catania, Muscat, Tbilisi, to name a few. Ozoliņš has been the Guest Director at China’s two largest theatres in Tianjin and Harbin for Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata. Furthermore, he has worked in Hong Kong with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Don Giovanni and participated in the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago, Italy, with Giacomo Puccini’s operas Turandot, Manon Lescaut and La bohème.
