Exchange guest performances by the Latvian National Opera and Ballet and Estonia’s Vanemuine Theatre to take place in August
At the end of August, a special exchange of guest performances between the Latvian National Opera and Ballet and the Estonian National Theatre "Vanemuine" will offer audiences the opportunity to experience outstanding opera and ballet productions created in neighbouring countries.
On 28 August, the Latvian National Opera will host "A Little Prayer. Tribute to Arvo Pärt" – a poetic and emotionally powerful production by Czech choreographer Petr Zuska, inspired by the music of Arvo Pärt.
On 29 August, audiences will have the opportunity to experience Handel’s opera "Julius Caesar" in a dynamic staging by Elmo Nüganen, brought to life through the visual world created by set designer Kristjan Suits and costume designer Kristīne Pasternaka. Both performances will be conducted by Risto Joost.
Meanwhile, on 25 and 26 August, the Latvian National Opera and Ballet will visit Tartu with Donizetti’s opera "L’elisir d’amore" and Edward Clug’s ballet "Carmina Burana" set to Carl Orff’s music.
This exchange programme is an important step in strengthening cooperation between Baltic theatres and creating new opportunities for audiences to discover the richness and diversity of our region’s performing arts.
Tickets for Vanemuine Theatre’s guest performances in Riga are available at the LNOB box office and online.
